A contemporary rural retreat: a green courtyard at the height of comfort – Orvieto, Italy
This stunning private residence, nestled in the hills of Umbria, was brought to life with furnishings that we developed for the Interior Designer Deniz Onel.
The one-level country home features an open central loggia and was reinterpreted in a contemporary key, in continuous dialogue with the surrounding landscape. This harmony is amplified by large sliding glass doors and the fully open-air central courtyard, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
The living areas of the two volumes that make up the residence were furnished with a palette inspired by the curated rural charm of central Italy, where nature and architecture have coexisted for centuries through thoughtful land stewardship.
This balance comes to life through the contrast of rich, deep tones (like Canaletto walnut wood and natural stones such as Sahara Noir, Carrara, and Travertine) with the soft, luminous textures of Nabuk and Ghost leathers and chunky-weave fabrics in shades of cream, grey, and sand. Clear glass elements further enrich the interplay of light and material.
In one wing, the living room is furnished with a generous Ayton sectional sofa, paired with its matching pouf and Hellis swivel armchairs, creating a fresh and engaging space. In the other wing, the timeless Greg sofa finds perfect balance alongside the elegant Lisa armchairs.
Even the transitional areas – hallways and smaller lounges – feature our pieces, such as the TV room with the Shifu sofa and the corridor highlighted by the iconic Minerva bench, a design statement in itself.
The home is completed with coffee tables, poufs, benches, mirrors, and accessory pieces like the Hug trays, all custom-made by Borzalino to integrate seamlessly into the concept of this uniquely designed residence, where social gathering is at the heart of the project.
